Dragons Fall to Trinity in Another Epic Battle of Powers

The Carroll Dragons suffered their first defeat in District 7-6A last Friday at Pennington Field.

The Dragons fell 37-35 to Trinity in another epic showcase of two of the state’s premier programs. Trinity remains undefeated and is now in first place in District 7-6A. Carroll falls to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in district.

Carroll returns home Friday to face Colleyville Heritage at 7:30 p.m. on Pink Out/Relay For Life Night at Dragon Stadium.

Against Trinity, the Dragons had trouble slowing the powerful Trojans running game. Trinity totaled 603 yards rushing. Carroll’s offense kept countering Trinity’s big plays and finished with 390 yard, led by quarterback Mason Holmes had three TD passes. Running back Shemar Coleman had 47 yards rushing and two TDs on the ground and one receiving. Lil’ Jordan Humphrey had 92 yards rushing and had 10 catches for 92 yards receiving and one TD.

It was a close game the entire night which each team countering the other. Trinity led 21-14 at the half and after a scoreless third quarter, Carroll had 21 points in the fourth while Trinity scored 16.
