NORTH RICHLAND HILLS – The Carroll Dragon football team raced to a huge lead and completed a 59-0 shutout Thursday against Haltom.

The Dragons held a 28-0 after the first quarter with an explosive offense that included four TD passes by Mason Holmes. The junior quarterback finished the night with five touchdowns and 199 yards on 8-of-10 passing . Blake Berwick and Zach Farrar each had two TD receptions. Of the Dragons eight touchdowns, seven were for 20 yards or more.

The game was moved to Thursday because inclement weather was expected Friday. The Dragons were already coming off a rescheduled game from last week when their game against Colleyville Heritage was moved to Saturday due to weather.

Carroll’s defense allowed just 120 yards, six first downs and forced three turnovers.

The Dragons (7-2, 4-1 in District 7-6A) finish the regular season next Friday at home against L.D. Bell at 7:30 p.m.
