Hoops Update: Carroll Teams Split with Rival Coppell

The Lady Dragons added a big road victory in District 7-6A by defeating rival Coppell 55-37 on Tuesday. Carroll was led by Priscilla Smeenge’s game-high 18 points. Brooke Lay added 16 points and Anna Hurlburt scored 14. The Lady Dragons’ defense stifled Coppell in the second half and allowed just 16 points. The Lady Dragons are currently 13-9 overall and 3-0 in district. During the winter break, Carroll played in the Mansfield Tournament during the winter break and went 2-2. Carroll returns home Friday vs. Richland at 6:30 p.m.

Carroll Falls in District Opener
The Dragons lost a close contest Tuesday at rival Coppell to open District 7-6A action. Coppell edged Carroll 43-42. The Dragons started fast and had a five-point lead after the first quarter. Coppell rallied in the fourth quarter for the victory. Dragon forward Lil’ Jordan Humphrey led the team with 16 points, Joey McCormick had nine and Tyson Smiter added eight. The Dragons return home Friday vs. Richland at 8 p.m.
