Landers Named New Walnut Grove Elementary Principal

New WGES Principal Mike Landers

The Carroll ISD School Board approved Mike Landers as the new Walnut Grove Elementary School Principal.

Landers was named during Monday night’s School Board meeting. Landers previously served as Walnut Grove’s Assistant Principal for two years and has been an administrator in Carroll ISD for nine years.

“It’s a goal to make this community proud and to do what’s best for kids always,” Landers said at Monday’s meeting. “What an honor and privilege.”

Several members of the Walnut Grove Elementary staff were in attendance to support Landers. He replaces Dr. Betty McIlvain, who retired at the semester break.

Landers served at Johnson Elementary School Assistant Principal for seven years before moving to WGES. He carries 16 years of experience in public education and has served in management roles in areas of accounting, finance and human resources in previous stops.

Landers has a Master of Education degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Bachelor of Science degree from North Texas.
