Police Officer of the Year Announced

Officer Briggs defines what it is to be a role model for the law enforcement profession. He exemplifies the City’s core values: Integrity, Accountability, Innovation, Teamwork and Excellence. Chief James Brandon said, “He possesses an exceptional level of personal integrity, and consistently strives for excellence in all areas.”

Officer Briggs has a ‘can do’ attitude and succeeds in everything he does. He is a member of the North Tarrant Regional SWAT Team, and is also a part of the Southlake Police Department’s Honor Guard, representing the department at special events and the funerals of fallen officers. Officer Briggs serves as the primary ‘person crimes’ detective in the Criminal Investigation Division. “In this role he assists adult and child victims of violence, and does so with compassion and a relentless pursuit of justice,” said Chief Brandon.

Officer Briggs is a veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army in Afghanistan, and continues to serve in the Army reserves.   He is also pursuing his bachelor’s degree. All of these accomplishments reflect on Officer Briggs dedication and pursuit of excellence in his chosen profession. Even with all of his professional responsibilities he also manages to be a great husband and father of two young children.
