Southlake Police Theft Alert

The Southlake Police Department is warning citizens about a recent crime and is asking for your help in identifying the suspect. On January 3, 2016 officers responded to the Barnes and Noble in Town Square to speak with a victim who had her phone stolen.

The victim states that as she and her daughter were leaving the store a black male approached and asked to borrow her phone to call his mother. As the woman handed the cell phone over, the male suspect grabbed the phone and ran toward the parking lot on the north side of the building.

The suspect is described as a black male, fifteen to sixteen years old, approximately six-feet tall with a “thick” build. He was wearing green Jordan brand shoes, sweat pants and a blue t-shirt. The suspect lost one of the shoes as he fled the scene. The shoe, size eleven, is being held for DNA testing. He was also seen leaving in a black passenger vehicle, possibly a BMW.

Town Square has surveillance cameras and was able to obtain images of the suspect. If you recognize this individual, please contact Detective Chris Melton at (817) 748-8129 or email him at cmelton@ci.southlake.tx.us.
