“Films at The Marq” is planned as the first annual event designed to bring the Southlake community together to celebrate the art of films. On May 7, 2016, at The Marq Southlake, APEX Arts League will host a 48 Hour Film Project where a team will make a movie – write, shoot, and edit – in just 48 hours. This event is free and open to the public.
On Friday night, the teams draw a genre from a hat. They are then given a character, prop and line to include in their films. On Sunday night, in a wild dash to the drop off event, the film is turned in – and teams celebrate. The film is then screened at a local theater in front of an audience of filmmakers, friends and families.
The symposium will focus on short films. Participants can ask the filmmakers questions about their experiences producing and directing for the 48 Hour Film Project. The educational event will be hosted by area professionals and will conclude with a discussion on entertainment law.
