Carroll ISD School Board Fills Trustee Vacancy

The Carroll ISD School Board conducted interviews and appointed a new Trustee during Monday night’s meeting.TC

The Board approved Todd Carlton as the newest Place 6 Trustee. Carlton fills the vacancy left by Matt Kormann, who left the position when his family relocated out of state. Kormann served one three-year term and had just been elected to another three-year term before he resigned.

“I am honored to be appointed to fill the Place 6 vacancy and I would like to thank Dr. Faltys, Mr. Archer and the rest of the School Board for the opportunity to serve such an outstanding district,” Carlton said. “I am looking forward to helping continue the great work of the Carroll School Board as well as helping to maintain the level of excellence that has become synonymous with Carroll ISD.”

The Board interviewed three candidates Monday before convening to vote.

Carlton will serve in the vacancy until the May 2017 election when voters will elect a candidate to serve out the remaining two years for Place 6. Carlton has the choice whether or not to run for the position in the election.

Carlton is an active volunteer in Carroll ISD and has two children in the district at Dawson Middle School and Old Union Elementary. He recently served as a Co-Chair on the Capital Needs Planning Committee. He also served on the Carroll Education Foundation Board for five years and was co-leader for the Strategic Action Committee on Safety and Security.

“It was a very difficult decision because all of the candidates were so highly qualified,” said Christopher Archer, CISD School Board President. “However, based upon his years of experience and involvement with CISD, both serving on and leading in-district committees as well as serving on the Board of CEF, we are confident Mr. Carlton will instantly add to what I believe is a great team that is committed to our district and the children of CISD.”
