Rockenbaugh Elementary Seeking New Principal

Rockenbaugh Elementary is seeking a new principal after Lisa Young was accepted as O.C. Taylor Elementary Principal in the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District.

Young was approved at Monday’s GCISD School Board meeting. She has family that resides in the district and attends O.C. Taylor.

The Rockenbaugh principal position opening has been posted and the Carroll ISD’s plan is to hire as soon as possible.

Due to summer schedules and August back-to-school activities, it is unlikely a new principal will be in place by the first day of school. Assistant Principal Janet Blackwell will lead the campus along with teachers and support staff at RES and will also receive administrative assistance from central office.

An interview and screening committee will be formed and comprised of a balance between central office administrators, campus teachers and parents of RES students. The work of the interview and screening committees will be an important step in selecting the best candidates. The involvement of parents, teachers and support staff at RES is an instrumental part of CISD’s standard hiring process for principals.

Young worked in Carroll ISD since 2008. She started in central administration as a Curriculum Coordinator, later moved to Coordinator of 21st Century Learning and Professional Development and was hired at RES in 2012.

Before arriving in Carroll ISD, Young held various roles in Coppell ISD from 1995-2008.
