Shady Oaks Drive Street Rehab Update

New asphalt on Shady Oaks Drive

New asphalt on Shady Oaks Drive

The Shady Oaks Drive street rehabilitation project enters the home stretch and is on track to meet its mid- August completion date.

Public Works Streets crews have been working hard to finish the street rehabilitation along Shady Oaks Drive. The project, which began June 16, 2016 and  is this year’s street rehabilitation collaboration with Tarrant County Precinct 3, has made significant repairs and corrections to the segment of Shady Oaks from the north property line of Bicentennial Park to West Highland Street. To date, crews have paved and added new layers of asphalt to the road (see photo).

Although the work may look complete, there are some items that remain. This week, you’ll see crews back-fill and complete sod work. In addition, crews will:

  • Install flashing, pedestrian crossing at Sherwood and Shady Oaks intersection.
  • Install a concrete drive approach.
  • Repair the sidewalk along 800 Shady Oaks.
  • Replace pavement markings.

The Shady Oaks street rehabilitation project is expected to be complete before school starts on Monday, August 22, 2016.
