New Rockenbaugh Elementary Principal Janet Blackwell

Carroll ISD has named Janet Blackwell as the new Rockenbaugh Elementary Principal.

Blackwell was approved during Monday’s CISD School Board Meeting. She was previously Rockenbaugh’s Assistant Principal for the past four years.

“I am thrilled and honored to accept the position of Rockenbaugh’s Principal,” Blackwell said. “I love serving the students, parents and staff of Rockenbaugh’s community. We make an awesome team. I am looking forward to many great years together. My motto in life and for this school is, ‘Go the extra mile, it’s never crowded.'”

Blackwell served 20 years as a teacher before moving to administration four years ago. For the past two summers, she has worked as Elementary Summer School Principal in Carroll ISD.

She started in the district as a teacher at Carroll Elementary and was named Teacher of the Year in 2012. During her tenure at CES, Blackwell taught third and fourth grade math and science, special education and self-contained GT classrooms. Prior to CISD, she served as a middle school and elementary teacher in Waxahachie, Alvarado, Whitehouse, Mississippi and Arkansas.

“We are so excited Mrs. Blackwell has been approved to be the next instructional leader at Rockenbaugh,” said Matt Miller, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services. “Her experience, passion and knowledge of the students, staff and community will help her continue the culture of excellence.”

Blackwell earned her Masters degree in 2011 from Concordia University in Austin. She replaces Lisa Young, who became an elementary principal in the Grapevine-Colleyville School District.
