Dragons Roll Past Flower Mound to Open District Action

FLOWER MOUND – The Carroll Dragons had a successful start to District 5-6A action.

The Dragons routed Flower Mound 42-7 last Friday at Neal Wilson Stadium. Carroll improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in district and faces a showdown vs. Trinity on Friday at Dragon Stadium.

Carroll jumped to a 21-7 lead at half and held an opponent scoreless in the second half for the second consecutive game. The Dragons rolled up 404 yards and held Flower Mound to 211 yards and 11 first downs.

The Dragon defense produced four turnovers and the offense scored three TDs in the third quarter for a 42-7 lead entering the fourth.

Running back Audricke Gaines rushed for 141 yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns. Carroll finished with five rushing TDs as Tre Sledge, Mason Holmes and Jack Johansson added scores on the ground. Holmes was 12-for-16 passing for 165 yards.

Clayton Keyes led the Dragon receivers with five catches for 80 yards. Dragon defensive backs Barrett Buck, RJ Mickens and Jake Murphy had interceptions.
