Dragons Continue Hot Streak with Rout of Lewisville

The Carroll Dragons backed up a big victory two weeks ago with an impressive road performance Friday against Lewisville.

The Dragons improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in District 5-6A with a 49-7 victory at Lewisville’s Max Goldsmith Stadium. Carroll was just as explosive on offense a week after its emotional and hard-fought victory against Trinity. Carroll had 564 yards of offense.

Carroll’s defense was just as tough, holding Lewisville to 10 first downs and 200 total yards. The Dragons scored 49 unanswered points after the Farmers scored on their opening drive of the game.

Dragon senior quarterback Mason Holmes was 19-of-27 for 222 yards and threw four touchdown passes. Receiver Robert Barnes had two TDs and Clayton Keyes and Jack Johansson had one apiece. Audricke Gaines produced another 100-yard game, this time with 15 carries for 125 yards and one score.

Carroll is on the road against this week and faces Marcus, which is coming off a 37-33 victory at Hebron last week.
