Dragons Remain Undefeated in District with Homecoming Win

johanssonThe Carroll Dragon football team clinched a playoff berth and inched closer to a district title last Friday.

The Dragons defeated Byron Nelson 44-13 before a sold out homecoming game crowd at Dragon Stadium. The Dragons improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in district and snapped Byron Nelson’s two-game winning streak.

Dragon senior running back Audricke Gaines rushed for 139 yards on 16 carries and had two of the team’s four rushing touchdowns for Carroll. Jack Johannson added 69 yards and a score and Tre Sledge had 44 yards and a TD.

Quarterback Mason Holmes was 10-of-16 for 166 yards and one touchdown.

Carroll led 24-6 at the half and 30-6 after three quarters.

The Dragons travel to face L.D. Bell on Friday at Pennington Field. Bell is coming off its first district victory last week against Lewisville.
