O’Neal Honored as District 5-6A’s Most Valuable Player

Carroll Lady Dragons-2Carroll Lady Dragon junior volleyball player Asjia O’Neal (pictured above) was selected Most Valuable Player in District 5-6A.

She helped lead the Lady Dragons to a co-championship in 5-6A and the district’s No. 1 seed in the playoffs. O’Neal, who has committed to Texas, was also chosen all-state along with teammate and USC signee Haley Hallgren (pictured right).

Lady Dragon Nailah Gordon also earned one of the district’s top accolades as Blocker of the Year. Hallgren, Lisie Kit and McKenzie Nichols were first-team all-district. Rachel Meyne, Abby Carlile and Kendall Gilpin were second-team selections.

Sheridan Webb, Annabelle Smith, Alli Bliss and Lauren Johnson were honorable mention.

Nichols was also recognized at the state level as Newcomer of the Year by the Texas Association of Volleyball Coaches.
