Day Closure of Runway 17R/35L for Saturday, 1/28

The City of Southlake has been informed by the DFW Airport of the day closure of runway 17R/35L (shown in purple on map above) on Saturday, January 28th from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

The DFW Airport is planning a closure of Runway 17R/35L for this Saturday, January 28th from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM in order to complete necessary maintenance activities that have been delayed due to cold and/or wet weather.

The winds are forecast to be from the northwest at 5-10 mph for the closure period meaning aircraft will depart to the north and land from south to north.  During the closure, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will necessarily shift aircraft from runway 17R/35L to other runways. The shift in operations will primarily affect Coppell (departures) and Irving (arrivals). Runway 17R/35L is the primary departure runway on DFW’s east side. During the closure, aircraft departures will temporarily shift from the closed runway, 35L, to runway 35C. Arrivals will temporarily shift from runway 35C, now being used for departures, to runways 35R and 31R on DFW’s east side as well as runway 36L on DFW’s west side. Runway 31L, which can affect Southlake and Grapevine, is not anticipated to be needed during this closure but may be used if needed due to runway availability.

More information about the DFW Airport’s planned work is available on the DFW Airport’s website. We encourage citizens with inquires or complaints to contact the DFW Airport. You may contact them by email at dfwnoise@dfwairport.com, or on the Noise Complaint Hotline, at 972-973-3192 (manned 24/7). Follow-up response calls or emails will be provided, when requested.
