Day Closure of Runway 17L/35R for Saturday, 2/4

The City of Southlake has been informed by the DFW Airport of the day closure of runway 17L/35R (shown in blue on above map) on Saturday, February 4th from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

DFW Airport is planning a closure of Runway 17L/35R for this Saturday, February 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in order to complete necessary maintenance activities that have been delayed due to cold and/or wet weather.

The winds are forecast to be from the south at 10-15 mph with gust as high as 20 mph for the closure period, meaning the aircraft will depart to the south and land from north to south. During the closure, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will shift aircraft arrivals from Runway 17L/35R to other runways. The shift in operations may affect Southlake, Flower Mound, and Lewisville, which could experience some additional arrival traffic. In south winds, Runway 17C is the primary arrival runway and Runway 17L/35R is the secondary arrival runway on DFW’s east side. During the closure of Runway 17L, FAA will continue to use Runway 17C for most arrivals but will also shift aircraft arrivals to Runway 18R and 13R on DFW’s west side resulting in additional flights over Flower Mound/Grapevine and Southlake respectively.

More information about the Airport’s planned runway work is available on DFW’s website. We encourage citizens with inquiries or complaints to contact the DFW Airport. You may contact us by email at dfwnoise@dfwairport.com, or on the Noise Complaint Hotline, at 972-973-3192 (manned 24/7). Follow-up response calls or emails will be provided by the DFW Airport, when requested.
