Orange Barrel Alert: Sidewalk Work at Town Square at Main St and Central Ave

**Update: All sidewalk improvements have been completed as planned without any issues.

There are still barricades lining both the outside and the inside of the recently poured sidewalk curb since the concrete is still wet. The plan is to have these removed by tomorrow, Saturday, February 25, at 10:00 am for the store openings. Final pressure washing and clean up of this area is scheduled for Monday 2/27.

Beginning Thursday evening, February 23, 2017, around 9:00 P.M., Southlake Public Works Streets Crew will be conducting a series of sidewalk improvements within Southlake Town Square, all located along the section of Main Street adjacent to Central Ave (near the Brownstones community).

These improvements include three projects:

  • Lowering the section of the curb several inches
  • Replacing the handicap ramp in front of Lane Bryant in order to comply with revised ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) standards
  • Preventative maintenance to replace three panels of sidewalk in front of Lane Bryant.

“After careful consideration, it has been determined that this work will be performed at night,” Director of Public Works Rob Cohen notes. “The night work will reduce impacts to mobility and improve safety conditions of the work area for City crews. Additionally, working through the night will reduce inconveniences for shoppers and business owners in the area.”

Improvements will be completed by the following Friday morning, February 24 at 10:00 A.M. Throughout the evening, this small section of Main Street and a section of Central Ave. will have a partial lane closure, with the affected area blocked off by traffic cones.

Director Cohen reminds residents to be vigilant of the work areas and exercise caution when traveling in this area.
