Change in Water Impact Fees

The City of Southlake has received notice from the City of Fort Worth that water impact fees will increase as of April 1, 2017. The timing of assessment and collection of fees will also change.

Beginning April 1, impact fees will be assessed according to the date of final plat approval, or if the date of final plat approval occurs beyond April 1, 2017, the building permit application date will be used to determine the impact fee.

What does this mean for our customers? It means the date of final plat approval will determine the City of Fort Worth fee to be collected. In addition, fees will be collected upon issuance of a building permit.

Previously, Fort Worth impact fees were assessed at the time of impact. This is a one-time fee.

What are impact fees?

Water impact fees are charges or assessments imposed by the City of Southlake and by extension, the City of Fort Worth, where Southlake gets its water. Impact fees are assessed on new development in order to recoup the costs of capital improvements.
