Dragon Baseball Riding Tournament Win Streak

MANSFIELD – The Carroll Dragon baseball team’s offense came alive in the second tournament of the season.

The Dragons went 4-1-1, which included victories against Seguin, Plano East, Arlington and Amarillo. The Dragons outscored opponents 41-11 in the final four games.

In the final game of the tournament, the Dragons edged Amarillo 3-2 in eight innings to improve to 7-4-1 overall. Senior Jake Murphy hit a game-winning home run in the top of the eighth. Erik Friedel earned the victory in relief and didn’t allow a hit and had four strikeouts in 2 and 1/3 innings.

The Dragons return to action this week with a big matchup Thursday at rival Coppell. Start time is 11 a.m. in the Dragons final tournament of the season. Carroll follows the Coppell game with a 1:30 p.m. game against Plano East.
