MasterWorks Music Series Returns to Southlake May 13

Hot Texas summers call for cool concerts with FREE family fun. A Southlake tradition, MasterWorks is a concert series that offers community members free musical performances. Presented by the City of Southlake and the Arts Council Northeast, the music series is open to both Southlake residents and visitors. This year, concerts will be held from May through October at Southlake Town Square in Family Park and at Aria Amphitheater at The Marq Southlake.

The 2017 MasterWorks Music Series will kick-off on Saturday, May 13, when the Southlake Community Band takes the stage. Composed of more than 70 talented adult amateur musicians, the band’s performance will feature a Disney-inspired concert. Fans can expect selections from favorite movies such as “Frozen” and “The Lion King.”

Rising country artist Derek Anthony will bring his contemporary style to Southlake for a performance on May 27, followed by a performance by kid-friendly Big Bang Boom during the Southlake Library’s Summer Reading Kick-Off event on June 3. With multiple tribute bands also on the schedule, enjoy familiar favorites by The Beatles during a performance by Me & My Monkey on June 24, as well as Def Leppard songs performed by Def Leggend on July 15. Other talented bands will round out the concert series in the early fall.

With a wide range of musical genres in the line-up, the Saturday evening concerts (Sunday concerts in October) will offer exciting entertainment for music fans of all ages and musical preferences. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and coolers. Alcoholic beverages and glass containers are not permitted at either venue.
