The Carroll Senior High School Class of 2017 will graduate at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dragon Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m.
This year’s class includes 676 seniors, which produced more than 72,000 hours of community service and earned nearly $27 million in scholarship money.
Carroll’s Valedictorian is Samira Mehta. She will be attending the University of Pennsylvania and plans to major in Biology. The Salutatorian is Emma Lin. She will be attending Harvard and will study Government and Philosophy.
The seniors will continue the new tradition which started last year by taking school buses to Dragon Stadium before the ceremony. Seniors are required to report to the CSHS auditorium at 6 p.m. Friday. Following the ceremony, Project Graduation will begin at 11 p.m. at Main Event in Grapevine. The all-night event will last until 5 a.m.
On Friday morning, seniors report to the Dragon Stadium field at 8:30 a.m. for graduation rehearsal. All seniors are expected to be in attendance as staff will instruct students on the schedule of events.
Before and after graduation, video board graduation messages will play at Dragon Stadium. The messages will loop alphabetically until the graduation ceremony begins. The messages will also loop following graduation. Each message will play for seven seconds.
