The City of Southlake is embarking on a number of Capital Improvement Plan projects impacting the area north of Dove Road in the vicinity of Kirkwood Boulevard.
These projects will improve current and future mobility in the area. Kirkwood Hollow residents as well as Verizon and Sabre employees may be affected during the construction phase.
The first project involves widening Kirkwood Boulevard from Stockton Drive to the north end of Tyler Street. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-July of this year and expected to be completed in March of 2018. The project will also include drainage improvements within the existing northbound lanes and may impact travel during peak hours.
The Kirkwood Boulevard intersection improvements include the installation of a traffic signal and pavement improvements, to include the addition of turn lanes at Kirkwood Boulevard and T.W. King and Kirkwood Boulevard and Dove Road This work is expected to be completed by December 2017. Traffic flow is expected to be maintained during construction however, occasional lane shifts and temporary lane closures will be necessary.
The next project is at the intersections of State Highway 114 and Kirkwood Boulevard/Solana Boulevard. Improvements will include the installation of a traffic signal and intersection improvements. The City is partnering with the Town of Westlake, Tarrant County and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for delivery of this project. The work is expected to be completed by December 2017. The Public Works Department is anticipating minimal traffic interruption however, occasional lane shifts and temporary lane closures will be necessary. Again, these projects will improve current and future mobility in the area
