The Library has over 3,050 summer readers and more signing up every day! Southlake readers are choosing to visit more regularly to attend programs, check out materials, turn in their reading hours, use the study rooms and tables, and to stay connected with their community.

The Library also offered 50 children’s programs in June with 3,672 attendees, that’s a 6% increase over 2016. “The Library has been brimming with activity every day and summer is such a joyful time for us to connect with the community. So many wonderful memories are made for families during the summer months and we’re happy to be part of it,” says City of Southlake Librarian Cynthia Pfledderer.

Pfledderer says changes to the Digital Library have improved the number of titles available to our customers as well as improved the usability. Library staff launched a new partnership with other area Libraries in June, bringing its available titles to over 65,000 eBooks and downloadable audiobooks.

A whopping 2,426 digital titles were accessed last month, which is a 73% increase over June 2016. Library customers accessed over 12,000 items from the Library’s digital resources including information resources like EBSCO. EBSCO offers more than one million high-quality ebook titles and over 70,000 audiobooks from more than 1,500 major academic publishers and University Presses from around the world. Visitors also checked out BookFLIX, a Scholastic program that engages young students with interactive, animated versions of classic storybooks which motivate beginning readers and reluctant readers.

If you haven’t connected with the Southlake Library yet, or if it’s been a while, take a look at the calendar of events coming up and bring your kids in for a FREE movie with Friday Flicks, or check out the weekly Story Time at the Library and so much more. See You there!
