Registration is Open for Southlake Recreation Fall Youth Program!

Don’t miss out on all the new and exciting programs that Southlake Parks and Recreation has to offer this fall! Try out our brand new Mindfulness classes or sign-up to work out your brain at Chess.

Babysitting Certification Class (Ages 10-16): Looking to become a certified babysitter? Well look no further! This one-day program teaches the fundamentals of safety and childcare. Learn how to treat basic first aid emergencies, choking prevention, handle fire and safety emergencies, plan age appropriate activities and much more. At the conclusion of the class, you will have the opportunity to earn a certificate by demonstrating your mastery of the content.

Chess (Ages 6-16): This is a class open to children of all skill levels and abilities. Students will receive a half hour of supervised play and instruction. This class will teach the fundamentals of chess and introduce the use of notation, which is the ability to record one’s moves. Students will also learn tournament procedures and etiquette.

Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 5-18):  This Jiu-Jitsu program will develop children and preteens physically, emotionally and socially. Children will learn age-appropriate martial arts skills to prepare them to one day become a black-belt, a very high accomplishment and honor. This program also teaches important life skills such as respect, responsibility, self-esteem, confidence, discipline, heightened awareness and much more.
