Southlake Names New City Secretary

Congratulations to the City of Southlake’s new City Secretary, Carol Borges.

City Council appointed Ms. Borges to the position at their August 1, 2017 council meeting.

She is currently serving as interim City Secretary and previously worked as the Deputy City Secretary for Southlake. “I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the Mayor, City Council, and the citizens of Southlake,” said Ms. Borges.

Ms. Borges has been with the City of Southlake for eleven months. She has spent 21 years in public service, previously serving as the City Secretary for the City of Westworth Village for seven years. During her tenure, Ms. Borges was responsible for municipal elections, records management, code of ordinances, budget management, and contract negotiations. She was also directly involved with the City of Westworth’s Planning and Zoning Commission and the City’s Economic Development Corporation in the development of residential and commercial properties. In addition to traditional municipal duties, she also acted as liaison to other Cities, county and state officials.

Ms. Borges works closely with other City Secretaries across Texas. She is a certified Texas Registered Municipal Clerk and President of the North Texas Municipal Clerks Association (NTMCA). “It has been my privilege to serve my fellow City Secretaries across the chapter and state.

Ms. Borges has lived in Texas 22 years, is married, and has two grown children.
