The Southlake Fire Department is pleased to announce its newest Deputy Chief of Operations Kurt Hall.
Hall was selected from a pool of more than seventy applicants. Some of the top candidates for the position came from the DFW area as well as agencies outside of the state. “Kurt stood out from the rest and brings with him a wealth of experience which will help us maintain our superior performance levels.” said Fire Chief Mike Starr.
He most recently served as the Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Allen and before that he was the Deputy Fire Chief for the Town of Addison. “I am excited to join the City of Southlake Fire Department. The department has an outstanding reputation as a high performing organization and is known for delivering excellence in customer service. I am also looking forward to taking a hands-on approach in daily operations and providing the Southlake community with the quality service they expect and deserve,” said Deputy Chief Hall.
Hall has spent 23 years in Fire Services. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Affairs, from the University of Texas at Dallas, a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University. Hall began his career in fire Services in 1994, working his way up the ranks from firefighter/paramedic to Assistant Fire Chief.
Along with his academic and professional experience, Hall is certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a Master Firefighter, Master Fire Instructor III, Master Fire Investigator, Master Arson Investigator, and he also holds a Master Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
“The Southlake Fire Department is thrilled to have someone of Kurt Halls’ caliber and education. He will be a great asset to our fire department and help us continue to achieve the high standards we have set for our agency,” said Chief Starr.
Hall has been married to his wife Sondra for 24 years. They have two children, a daughter Kaleigh, 20, who is attending the University of North Texas, and a son Dallas, 26, who served a tour of duty in Iraq with the Army and is now working as a Department of Defense (DOD) contractor.
