Carroll ISD is challenging all 11 CISD campuses to participate in a gift card drive for Southeast Texas schools to help those affected by the unprecedented regional emergency caused by Hurricane Harvey. From Monday, September 11 through Friday, September 15, the campuses will compete to see who can collect the most gift cards for Hurricane Harvey victims, and the winner will be announced during the game at Dragon Stadium on Friday, September 15. The campus that collects the largest quantity of gift cards (based on a percentage of their overall student enrollment) will be named this year’s Compassion Cup winner. The winner will be based on quantity, not the dollar amount raised.
Ozarka is taking the Give Back Challenge one step further by pledging to donate to the Houston Food Bank one (1) .5L bottle of Ozarka® Brand Water and $1 (up to a maximum total of $5,000 and 5,000 bottles) for every gift card collected by CISD under this program.
Each gift card should be a minimum of $5 in value, and all gift cards should be labeled with their dollar amount. There will be a labeled gift card drop box in the front office of each campus and the CISD Administration Building. Gift cards that will be most useful at this time include: Visa/MasterCard/ AMEX, Walmart, Target, Kroger, H-E-B, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walgreens, CVS, and fast food restaurants.
In addition to the campus competition that will be taking place all week, Carroll fans and Rockwall fans alike are invited to also donate gift cards at Friday night’s home opener at Dragon Stadium. At the home and visitor side entrances, there will be volunteers collecting gift cards for the drive. Once completed, the gift card drive contributions will be sent to Southeast Texas school districts and their teachers and support staff who endured severe damage from Hurricane Harvey.
