Dragon Band Earns Superior Rating at UIL Regional Marching Contest

The Dragon Band is kicking off their competition season with success, earning a Superior at the UIL Regional Marching Contest on Tuesday, October 17. At regional UIL music events, everyone competes for a rating, rather than competing against other bands, with UIL musical ratings ranging from I (Superior) to V (Poor).

Each year, schools try to earn a “Sweepstakes” award, a trifecta of contest results. To win a Sweepstakes, the band must earn a Superior rating (I) in three categories: Marching Band, Concert, and Sight-reading. Earning a “I” at Marching is the first stepping stone to a sweepstakes for the year, with the Concert and Sight-reading competitions happening in the Spring.
