Carroll ISD Hosts Foreign Exchange Students

Carroll ISD has had the privilege of hosting exchange students from Wuzhong, China.  The delegates, comprising of eight high school students and two teachers come from Jiangsu Foreign Language High School in Wuzhong, China, Southlake’s sister city in China.

The delegates arrived in Southlake last Friday evening, just in time for the Dragon football game.  After spending the weekend with their individual host family, the exchange students spent the day on Monday visiting Carroll ISD’s two high school campuses.

They had discussion forums with Ms. Lee’s Mandarin AP 4 students, danced with Ms. Aillon’s JV Belles, played games with Coach McDade’s teen leadership class.  After a grand tour at CSHS guided by Mr. Duhon himself, the delegates worked on a tower building challenge with Coach Nathman’s engineering class before trying to draw a portrait as well as getting their portrait drawn by Ms. Roberts and Ms. Roanhaus’s art class students.  The group wrapped up the day enjoying beautiful music by Mr. Maynard’s percussion class.

The students were impressed by the energy and vitality in Carroll ISD classrooms and envied the class options CISD students have to choose from when making their schedule. The group was very excited about the learning environments present on both campuses. During their visit to the CHS library, they couldn’t take enough pictures in an attempt to capture the inviting environment with current books and ambiance conducive for students to learn and thrive.

The delegates and their instructors will wrap up their trip to Southlake on Tuesday night, where they get to perform the Dragon fight song together with Carroll ISD’s JV belles team at the farewell party.
