Home for the Holidays 2017

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is less than two months away. That means the countdown is on for the annual tree lighting ceremony in Town Square.

You’ll want to mark your calendar for all of the exciting events planned for Home for the Holidays in Southlake. It all kicks off with the annual Tree Lighting sponsored by Classic Chevrolet. The festivities begin on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Town Square. It’s a magical time as children’s eyes begin to sparkle with the lighting of the Christmas tree scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

“It’s my favorite event and I hope you can join us,” said Mayor Laura Hill. It’s also a favorite time of year for Southlake families. Children can’t wait to meet and take a photo with Santa, build a snowman, or go tubing down snow hill. Be sure to bring some warm mittens! Then enjoy a ride in one of the horse-drawn carriages.

But that’s just the beginning. There will be lots of holiday crafts and great bargains to be had; and shoppers will enjoy hearing the sounds of Christmas carolers as they walk around Town Square. To find out more click here.

Southlake residents will also have the opportunity to play our holiday trivia game on the City’s Facebook page and win a special City of Southlake ornament for your tree. You’ll want to follow us on Facebook and play every day for your chance to win.

On Saturday, December 2, from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m., parents can bring the kids to Breakfast or with Santa at The Marq Southlake at 285 Shady Oaks Dr. Breakfast with Santa from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. is already sold out but you still have time to sign up for Snacks with Santa from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mrs. Claus and her merry elves will also be on hand helping kids make holiday crafts. And kids, don’t forget to bring your Christmas Wish List for Santa. Registration is required. Click here for more information.

Mrs. Claus and her merry elves can always use a helping hand so if you would like to volunteer for any of the Home for the Holidays events visit Volunteer Southlake at visit www.VolunteerSouthlake.com or email volunteer@ci.southlake.tx.us.

Last but not least, a few reminders about safety and security during the holidays. When shopping, be sure to remember the Hide, Lock, Take rule. Hide your things in the trunk of your car, Lock your car, and Take your keys. This will greatly reduce your chance of becoming the victim of a crime.

Also, if you are planning to travel during the holidays, don’t forget to fill out a vacation house watch form. This program is available to all Southlake residents who plan to be out of town for an extended period of time. Once Southlake Police receive the form, the address is added to the list of residences that officers check at least once per shift to ensure the premises are secure. You can find the form and more information on the Vacation House Watch program here.

We hope you will join us for some or all of the exciting events taking place during the holidays in Town Square.

We’d also like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday!

A special thank you to all of our sponsors.
