Dragons Advance to Round Four on Fourth Quarter Touchdown

The Dragons took on the Arlington Colts in the third round of the UIL 6A Division II Playoffs on Saturday, December 2 at The Ford Center at the Star in Frisco.

The Dragons got on the board first early in the game on a four-yard touchdown run for T.J. McDaniel, who ended up having 84 yards on 14 carries for the game.

The Colts answered back in halfway through the second quarter on a 75-yard touchdown run from Colt running back Kenland McCray. The teams then exchanged touchdowns to head into the half tied at 14-14.

On Arlington’s first drive of the second half, D’Montea Davis punched it in from one yard out to give the Colts their first lead of the game. The drive took over six minutes of the third quarter.

On the Dragon’s ensuing drive, quarterback Will Bowers hit Preston Forney on a deep pass across the middle to set up a quick touchdown run from Tavian Gould to tie the score back up at 21-21.

After an Arlington field goal, Carroll drove to the Arlington 1 yard line and Bowers connected with wideout Carson White on a diving catch in the corner of the end zone on fourth and goal to put the Dragons back on top 28-24. The Dragons went on to win by the same score.

Carroll was led by quarterback Will Bowers who threw for 180 yards and one touchdown and ran for 101 yards on the ground. Running back T.J. McDaniels and Tavian Gould both had a touchdown each in the victory.

The Dragons advance to take on Waco Midway in the next round of the state playoff on December 9 at McLane Stadium on the Baylor University campus. Kick-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
