Waco Midway Knocks Dragons Out of Football Playoffs

The Carroll Dragon football season came to an end on Saturday evening in a hard-fought game against the Panthers from Waco Midway.

The game, played at McLane Stadium on the Baylor University campus, didn’t start like the Dragons had hoped. Waco Midway jumped out to an early second quarter 21-0 lead on the performance of their Oklahoma University commit senior quarterback Tanner Mordecai.

The Dragons got on the board late in the first half on a Will Bowers 35 yard touchdown pass to Cade Bell and went into halftime down 21-7.

The second half opened with a Dragon drive that ended in an RJ Mickens 15 yard touchdown reception. Mickens added to his stat line later in the quarter with third with another touchdown from Bowers, this one for 20 yards.

The third quarter surge from the Dragons wasn’t enough though, Waco Midway pulled away 42-28 to advance to the UIL State Semifinals.

The Dragons end the season with a 10-4 record.
