UNT One O’Clock Lab Band Featured at 10th APEX Annual Jazz Festival

The University of North Texas’ (UNT) Grammy-nominated ensemble One O’Clock Lab Band will be the featured jazz band at the 10th Annual Jazz Festival presented by the APEX Arts League in Southlake in March.

The concert is slated for Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. at White Chapel United Methodist Church, 185 South White Chapel Boulevard. Three highly talented high school jazz bands will open the program, performing commissioned pieces written by composition students at UNT.  The High School Bands include:

  • Carroll High School Jazz Orchestra from Southlake, Texas
  • Birdville High School Jazz Ensemble from North Richland Hills, Texas
  • Liberty High School Jazz Ensemble from Frisco, Texas

The One O’Clock, under the direction of Alan Baylock, is the premier performing jazz ensemble from the internationally acclaimed University of North Texas’ Jazz Studies Program.   The One O’Clock is a seven-time Grammy-nominated ensemble and is noted for its exceptional individual musicianship and tight ensemble performance.  The One O’Clock frequently appears in major jazz venues such as Birdland (NYC), Blues Alley (DC) and Catalina’s (LA) and has produced more than 60 albums in its tenure.

Tickets at the door are $15 for adults, $10 for band parents, seniors and Apex members and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at apexartsleague.com or at the door.
