A “Dragon Dozen” Teams Win at Odyssey of the Mind Regional Tournament

Over 60 Odyssey of the Mind teams from across North Texas competed for a spot at Carroll High School on Saturday, February 24. Carroll is advancing 12 teams to the state tournament in Houston on April 13. Out of the 12 teams advancing, eight of those also earned First Place in their Problem/Division. The Carroll Elementary Problem 5 team earned the coveted OMer Award for amazing teamwork during their long-term problem through development of a wonderfully creative sports-themed performance and use of funny puns.

Odyssey of the mind is an international creative problem-solving competition for students of all ages. Teams of seven students select a problem, create a solution and present their solution in 8 minutes to a panel of judges. Teams chose from five Problem Categories including: Vehicular, Technical, Classics, Structure and Drama. The teams began working on their solutions in October, and also solved a Spontaneous Problem at the tournament.
