The Dragon Baseball team played their first home game of the season this past weekend under the lights at the Baseball and Softball complex. The Dragons took on Burleson Centennial in their first live game action on their recently installed turf.
This game was a defensive battle as the two teams pitching staffs threw gems from the mound. Dragon starter, Nicco Cole threw six and two-thirds inning allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out ten. His Centennial counterpart, Jacob Meador lasted five innings, giving up no runs and striking out 11.
The game was knotted up at two apiece in the bottom of the eighth when Marcus Hill stepped into the box and singled on a 2-2 pitch that scored the winning run. The Carroll Dragons Varsity defeated Centennial 3-2 on thanks to the walk-off single. The Dragons will return to action this Thursday when they travel to Rockwall to take part in another tournament that will prepare them for their upcoming district schedule.
