The five Choirs of Carroll Senior High School performed at the Region 31 UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest at Trinity High School on April 4-6, where two choirs were awarded “Sweepstakes” trophies.
Each choir performed three pieces from the UIL Prescribed Music List and a sight-reading piece. Sight-reading is singing a song with up to 4 different voice parts that the choir has never seen before. Choirs are scored from 1 to 5 in each event; one being the highest score. If a choir receives a 1 in concert and a 1 in sight-reading, it is called a “Sweepstakes.”
