Carroll Soccer Welcomes New Head Coach

The Carroll ISD Board of Trustees and CISD Administration announced the new Dragon Soccer Head Coach at the June 18 Board Meeting. Aaron Cottrell will be taking over for Greg Oglesby who recently retired.

Coach Cottrell has 17 years of experience in education and comes to Carroll ISD from Keller Central High School where he has served as Head Boys Soccer Coach since 2013. Cottrell led the Central Soccer Club to the playoffs each of his five years as head coach. Before Central, he served as the head coach of the Chisholm Trail High School soccer team in Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD. He was the first head coach hired to begin the program when the school opened.

Cottrell also held a record of 99-25-7 as the head coach of Mansfield Legacy High School. During that time his team also won the 4A Region I Championship in 2009.

Cottrell was honored as the TASCO All-Star game head coach for 4A Region I in 2008 and 2009.

He has been a head coach for 15 of his 17 years in Education. He earned his B.A. degree from Texas A&M in History and Psychology in 2001. While at Texas A&M he also competed in Track and Cross Country as a scholarship athlete.
