Dragons Punch Ticket to State Tournament

In the first-ever high school playoff series at Globe Life Park, the Carroll Dragons flexed some offensive muscle and swept Flower Mound Marcus to earn their invite to the UIL State Tournament in Round Rock beginning this Friday.

The Dragon bats liked playing on the big stage. Over the two games, the Dragons outscored Marcus 20-3, lead by Matty Warner who had five RBIs over the weekend. The Carroll pitching staff continued their impressive playoff run as well. Friday night, Kyle Warden took the mound and held the Marauders to one hit over 7 innings. Warden struck out eight batters on 86 total pitches. Nicco Cole picked up on Saturday where Warden left off, holding the Marcus offense to three runs over 6 complete innings before the run rule kicked in.

For the second straight year, the Carroll Dragon Baseball team will head to Round Rock, Texas for the UIL State Tournament. The Dragons will face The Woodlands in the state semi-final on Friday, June 8 at 4 pm.
