Lady Dragons Prepare for Big First Round Match-up

Tuesday night, the “next season” starts for the Lady Dragon Volleyball team. They will travel to Lake Dallas High School to take on the reigning state champion Hebron Lady Hawks in the bi-district round of the UIL Playoffs.

The Lady Dragons enter the game with an overall record of 35-9 and a 10-4 record in what many call the toughest district in UIL Texas Volleyball. The team finished second in the district after a tie-breaking coin flip.

Senior McKenzie Nichols led the Lady Dragons in serving aces (35), and assists (1227). Senior Kendal Gilpin surpassed 1000 career digs this season and led the team with a total of 563 during the regular season.

The Lady Dragons head into the playoffs on a three-game winning streak to close out district with wins over Keller Central, Fossil Ridge, and Keller. Hebron enters playoff after winning seven of their last eight games and finishing second to Flower Mound in District 6-6A.

For Lady Dragons first-year coach Teresa Dunn, this is an exciting time of year.

“I am so excited. These kids have put in the work all year and are ready for this moment. They are starting to gel and buy in at the right time. I am so pumped to see where we go from here.” Dunn says. “Hebron will be a challenge but I know the girls will rise to the occasion.”

Students are invited to meet up at Carroll Senior High to take the student shuttle to the game. The bus will leave at 6 p.m. and cost $5. Tickets for the game are 43 for students and $5 for adults.
