Dragons Dominant To Open Playoffs

The Dragons opened the UIL State Football Playoffs with an explosive performance against Coppell High School. The Dragons were firing on all cylinders on both offense and defense from the initial kick.

Seniors Will Bower and T.J. McDaniel led the Dragon offense to nearly 400 yards rushing. McDaniel accounted for over 300 of those rushing yards and five total touchdowns on the afternoon. The third offensive play for the Dragons set the tone for the game when McDaniels scampered for 69 yards and the game’s first score.

The Dragon offense would continue to add to their lead throughout the first half. Bowers connected with Junior John Manero late in the first quarter and McDaniel would run another in before the Cowboys could put anything on the board.

The defense held what is usually a very exciting Coppell offense to only 10 points on the game. Coppell could not get their running game clicking as the Dragons held them to -25 yards on the game and had 19 tackles for a loss. The Dragons racked up 7 total sacks with Hunter Colton getting three for himself.

The Dragons went on to win the Bi-District Championship by a score of 54-10 over the Coppell Cowboys and are set to take on the DeSoto Eagles at Vernon Newsom Stadium in Mansfield on Saturday, November 24 at 2:00 pm.
