Champions Club Progress Continues as the Year Ends

Great progress is taking place on site at Champions Club, as the contractor continues to make progress on the exterior landscaping and hardscape areas, the five-star recreation facility is close to completion.

With construction experiencing delays due to heavy rainfall this past September crews are working nonstop in hopes that the building’s substantial completion concludes soon.

To date, interior work continues with painting, carpeting, tiling and trimming throughout the facility. Furniture, fixtures and equipment deliveries are set to arrive in the next coming weeks with the pool filling expected to take place shortly after the New Year.

“Even with the delivery of the furniture, fixtures and equipment, we still have a lot of work to do throughout the facility,” said Public Works Director Rob Cohen.  “All of the life safety items like fire suppression system, flow and tamper switches, exit lights, emergency lighting, alarms, strobes, etc. must be in place, operational and pass the fire inspection before any city employees can start working from Champions Club.”

Specialized flooring for the gymnasium, cardio area, sauna, indoor track and field house will be installed within the next several weeks.  Other specialized equipment such as the elevators, will require additional testing before operating permits are issued. “We will then start looking at facility turnover as well as contractor supplied training for the facility operators and maintainers,” said Cohen.
