Dragons Remain Undefeated; Advance to Quarterfinals

Not even an hour and a half long rain delay during halftime could slow down the Dragons offense that continues to put up points in abundance during this impressive playoff run. The Dragons endured the rain delay and the Trinity attack to advance on to the quarterfinal round of the UIL state football playoffs by a final score of 35-7.

The Dragons took on the Trinity Trojans, a long time rival and highly respected opponent, at Apogee Stadium on the campus of UNT in Denton last Friday evening. The Dragons continued their trend of scoring early and often in this one. The opening drive for the Dragons was capped off by a 26-yard touchdown pass from Senior Will Bowers to Junior Wideout and Defensive Back R.J. Mickens. Bowers would go on to throw for 245 yards and two touchdowns on the game. He would add a rushing touchdown to his stat line late in the second half as well.  Senior Running Back T.J. McDaniels ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns as well for the offense.

After the Trojans scored on their opening drive of the game, the Dragon defense completely shut their offense down for the remainder of the contest. Graham Faloona led the Dragons with 18 total tackles. Preston Forney finished the game with 17 tackles. The usual high performing Trojan rushing game could not find their usual groove against this tough Dragon D.

The Dragons will take on Duncanville this upcoming Saturday, December 8, at the Star in Frisco. Kickoff is set for 4:30 and tickets are available here. This is the ONLY location to purchase tickets for this game. Your ticket will get you into all three games that are being held at the Star that day, but there will be no “in and outs” allowed.
