After swapping fish stories with students for the last several years, Carroll High School teacher and coach, Aaron Lineweaver realized there might be enough interest to start a fishing club for Carroll students. Coach Lineweaver, who’s fished almost all his life, brought up the idea to students and teachers who all overwhelmingly shared his enthusiasm for the idea.
“Keller ISD has a great program and they only started three years ago. I talked with them and knew that we could do the same thing here at Carroll.” said Coach Lineweaver.
“The team is in its early stages. We hope to get sponsors to help to expand the program as we grow.” said Coach Lineweaver who plans on having the group join the Texas High School Bass Association and enter their bass tournaments. “There’s more of a commitment for students who want to fish in weekend tournaments, but it will be easy for most students to bank fish with us at local ponds.”
The Carroll Bass Team has approval from Carroll High School principal, PJ Giamanco to be an official school club. Coach Lineweaver is very happy to provide another way students can get plugged into a new activity and represent Carroll ISD as well.
A meeting for any interested students in 7th to 12th grade is being held in the CHS cafeteria on Tuesday, January 15th at 6 p.m.
