Filing begins January 16 for two Places on the Carroll Independent School District Board of Trustees. Two of the seats – Places 6 and 7, held by Todd Carlton and Dave Almand, respectively – are three-year terms.
The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is February 15. The election is held the first Saturday of the month in May, which is May 4.
Interested candidates may complete the online application and return it to the Carroll ISD Administration Center, 2400 North Carroll Avenue in Southlake, during regular business hours. CISD is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will remain open until 5:00 p.m. on the last day of filing, February 15.
NOTE: Applications may not be turned in before January 16, the first day for filing.
UPDATE: Friday, February 15 is a Bad Weather Make Up Day in CISD, but there will be front office staff on site from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Admin Building to accept applications for this election.
To be eligible to run for a school board position, a candidate must meet the following qualifications:
The Carroll ISD School Board received an election update from Scott Wrehe, CISD Assistant Superintendent for Financial Services. The Board will officially call the election in February.
Todd Carlton was appointed in August 2016 to fill the vacancy left after the resignation of Trustee Matt Kormann. Carlton was elected in May 2017 to serve out the remaining two years for Place 6.
David Almand was appointed in October 2017 to fill the vacancy left after the resignation of Trustee Christopher Archer. Almand was elected in May 2018 to serve out the remaining one year for Place 7. The seat is now up for election for a three-year term.
Early voting by personal appearance will occur from Monday, April 22 through Tuesday, April 30 at Southlake Town Hall. Specific hours and requirements will soon be posted to the CISD Board Election webpage.
Canvassing of the election must occur between May 7 and May 15, 2019.
Trustees elected to Places 6 and 7 will be administered the oath of office at the May 13, 2019 School Board meeting.
