Soccer Programs Wrap Up Pre-District; Prepare for District Play

Both Soccer Programs have officially wrapped up their pre-district calendar and turned their eyes on their upcoming district schedule. The Lady Dragon Soccer program wrapped up pre-district with a perfect trip through the Georgetown in the Governor’s Cup and Dragon Soccer ended pre-district with an impressive win over a talented L.D. Bell squad.

Lady Dragon Soccer

Pre-district wrapped up at the Governor’s Cup this past weekend with the Lady Dragon’s outscoring their opponents 10-2. They took down talented teams from Leander Rouse, San Antonio Johnson and East View High School in route to the cup win.

Currently the Lady Dragon’s sit atop the TASCO 6A Girls Soccer State Rankings and 14th overall in the nation by MaxPreps. They head into district play with an overall record of 9-0-1 with the tie being against Harvard Westlake out of Studio City, California who is currently ranked number 31 by MaxPreps in the nation for girls soccer.

The Dragons are led in scoring and assists by senior Taylor Tuft who has 10 of each. Madi Drenowatz has netted eight goals during the pre-district schedule as well. Senior keeper Madi Martin has already racked up six shutouts and 36 saves on the season.

The Lady Dragons will head into district play this Friday night at 7:00 against Keller High School at Dragon Stadium.

Dragon Soccer

The Dragons wrapped up pre-district with an impressive win over L.D. Bell on Tuesday. Coach Aaron Cottrell has introduced a new element into the games by naming a “Man of the Match” after each game. This game’s honor goes to Carlos Trevino who netted two goals in the match.

The Dragons head into district play with a perfect 10-0-0 record and are currently ranked fourth in the nation by’s Winter Fab 50 and fifth in the state of Texas by MaxPreps.

The team has outscored their opponents this season 34-5 overall. Their tough defense and explosive offense have been hard for opposing teams to figure out thus far.
