Senior Dragon Tennis Player Breaks All-Time Wins Record

With two early morning victories in the Dragon Tennis tournament on Thursday in Hurst, Senior Nick Ryniak broke a Dragon Tennis record that had stood for a decade. With his 197th and 198th match victory, Ryniak became the Dragon All-Time Wins Leader. The previous record was held by Ryan McClanahan.

Dragon Tennis Head Coach Corey Aldridge has enjoyed watching Ryniak grow as a four-year starter for Dragon Tennis.

“I’ve enjoyed watching Nick grow into the young, mature man he is today,” Aldridge says. “He knows what it takes to be successful, both in the classroom or on the court. I’m super blessed to have spent the past four years with this kid.”

Over his four years as a varsity tennis player, Ryniak has collected quite a few accolades and recognition. In 2015, he was named District Freshman of the Year. Each year from 2016 through 2018, he was honored as a first team All-District Singles, Team and Doubles player. Ryniak qualified in 2016 and 2018 for the spring state tournament as well. He has also been recognized this season as a TTCA Academic All-State Athlete.

The spring tennis season is still taking place, the next time the all-time wins leader in Dragon history and his team in action will be March 22 at Allen High School.
