Dragon Water Polo Teams Advance to State Tournament

The Carroll Boys and Girls Water Polo teams are advancing to the TISCA State High School Water-Polo Championships in Austin, Texas this coming weekend.

The Dragon Boys finished as the TISCA North Region High School Water-Polo Champions, while the Dragon Girls finished as the TISCA North Region Runners-Up at the Lewisville Aquatic Center this past weekend.

The Dragon Boys team advanced to the regional final after defeating the #1 seed St. Marks in overtime in the semi-finals with a “golden goal” in overtime by Matt Hahn. In the final, the Dragons defeated the reigning state champion, Flower Mound Jaguars, with a last minute goal by Pablo Valederrama on an assist by Ryan Perham. This is the first time the Dragon Boys have been the North Region Champions, advancing to the TISCA State Tournament as the #1 seed from the North Region.

The Lady Dragons overcame 2nd seed Flower Mound 6 – 5 in the semi-finals but lost a close game to Denton-Guyer 7-6 in the Finals. The Dragon Girls were second last year at the 2018 TISCA State Water-Polo Championships and the TISCA State High School Water-Polo Champions in 2015.
