CSHS senior Joshua McSwain was recently notified that he received two honors in the 2019 Jostens Photo Contest for his work during the school year.

There were more than 6,000 entries this year with only 111 receiving special recognition, so his entry needed to be truly exceptional to have placed in the competition. In addition, he was one of only two photographers to have more than one photo chosen in the contest.

Josh received two awards:

Honorable Mention in the Academics & Community Service category for his photo, Practicing The Finale which features Carroll Choir junior Hunter Wasson during his performance in the Pop Show.

Honorable Mention in the Portrait category for his photo, Blue Reflections (featured above) of senior MacNeal Hall.

Josh’s photos, along with the other winners, will be on display at Chelsea Neighborhood Art Gallery in New York City during PhotogFest October 11-13 of this year. In addition, his photos will also be featured in the 2020 Jostens Look Book.

As a member of Dragon Media, Josh served as the design editor for the nationally award-winning 2018 The Dragon yearbook and currently serves as the executive editor of the 2019 yearbook. He will attend Baylor University in the fall to study Aviation Sciences with a concentration in professional piloting. He also plans to work for The Baylor Roundup yearbook.
