Dragon Tennis Finishes Third in State

After a rain delay pushed the state semifinal back a day, the Dragon Tennis team took the court in the coldest temperatures they had seen all season.

The Dragons took on Houston Memorial for a chance to play in the state final later in the afternoon. Coming into the match, Houston Memorial was undefeated and had outscored their opponents 40-6 in match play throughout the playoffs.

The Dragons came out hot and took an early lead in the match but ended up falling 10-7 to the eventual UIL 6A State Champions.

This was the first trip to the team tennis state tournament for the Dragons under head coach Corey Aldridge. Their road to the tournament was filled with tough competition and difficult matches against teams like Coppell, El Paso Coronado, and Lewisville Marcus.

The Dragons will begin preparing for the Spring UIL season which will get underway in early 2020.
